Things That Make You Say Hmm!!

What a week for defensive lineman Frank Kearse. Patriots said they cut him, no he was actually placed on IR. Then he settled an injury settlement with the team and eventually got released. Then he got stabbed by his girlfriend. I hope she is an ex after this.

Sooo… the Redskins did what every team did this week. They cut some players. It isn’t known if the team didn’t ask for the playbooks back or former Washington linebacker Ejiro Ederaine didn’t comply. He threw his away in the trash. How did the team find out you ask? A listener of a radio station said they found them. Not good Redskins.

Everyone that knows what is happening with Kaepernick. There was a rookie linebacker for the Eagles named Myke Tavarres said he was going to sit with Kaepernick. Then he had a change of mind and stood. Guess what he got cut. Hey kid before you start making these decisions make sure you make the team first.

I wonder how many people realized Tom Brady took off the NFL sticker off his helmet?? Anyone? He did it the last two games he played in preseason. Should he be fined?

Injuries and injury updates

Last week’s update I mentioned Cardinals CB Mike Jenkins was carted off. Now they know he tore his ACL and will miss the season.

img_1437

Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater went down Tuesday during practice holding his knee. Later on during the day we found out Bridgewater suffered torn ACL and other structural damage. Shawn Hill is their starter now.

Chiefs OLB Justin to miss 6 games of this season after being put on PUP list.

Texans defensive end  JJ Watt activated, will play week 1.

Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro goes to the PUP list on Tuesday.

Question of The Day!

Well the word in the Cowboys camp Tony Romo will stay on the active roster. Why? For what? Some may say what if Dak doesn’t do well and the team needs Romo back. My opinion Romo several injuries all over. This is the second injury to his back. The two injuries are different. Why leave him there wasting a roster spot? For hope and a dream? Rush him back, instead of saying you need this 8-10 weeks to heal. What would you do with Romo?

Teddy Bridgewater ACL Injury puts Vikings once promising season in jeopardy

By: Michael Eccleston

Well, it’s official: Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s season is over before it even started after he left practice with a torn acl. It was a non-contact injury when he dropped back during the very first drill of the day.

Wow. This is exactly why coaches, teams, and players all hold their breath throughout the preseason. Because of things like this. The Vikings were expecting a big season from the third year quarterback out of Louisville. This is a devastating blow to a team that was so poised to go into this season and go toe to toe with the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North division crown. Minnesota’s current backups are 36 year old Shaun Hill, who has been in the league for what seems like forever and hasn’t played many meaningful minutes, and the rookie out of Wisconsin Joel Stave who was just trying to make the 53 man roster.

Ouch… So where do the Vikings go from here? Do they make a trade for another solid quarterback? It appears that they have to if they want to have any chance of sniffing the postseason this year. The division title is most likely out the door, (I say most likely because weirder things have happened), but they might still be able to make a run for one of the wildcard spots if they make a trade for a decent starting option. In my opinion they don’t need a stud behind center in order to be a playoff team. They still have Adrian Peterson and Jerick McKinnon in the backfield, they still have some solid options at wide receiver, and they’re still loaded with young defensive stars like Anthony Barr, Everson Griffen, Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes and Eric Kendricks.

They aren’t going past the first round of the playoffs without Bridgewater. I think that’s pretty much out the door. But they possibly still can make it to the postseason… If they make a trade. It’s obvious that neither Shaun Hill or Joel Stave are taking this team anywhere right now. The NFC is extremely competitive right now, so they need to act soon.

Around The NFL

By LaDonna Williams

Another week in the NFL. The pre-season just started this past weekend. Some teams look great, and some looked like the same ole team from last year. There have been a lot of injuries this past week. Let’s jump right into it.

Injuries Around the League

Bengals wide receiver Brandon LaFell has a torn ligament in his hand. He will be out for some time.

Packers wide receiver Jeff Janis will be out for 4-6 weeks after having surgery on his broken hand.

On Monday, Broncos defensive end Vance Walker has a torn ACL and will miss the 2016 season.

Bengals rookie defensive tackle Andrew Billings out indefinitely after having surgery on a torn meniscus.

New England RB Dion Lewis needs another surgery on his knee his time table to return is unknown.

On Friday, Cardinals linebacker Alex Okafor tore his bicep tendon, but instead of having surgery. He has decided to play with the injury.

Chargers tight end Jeff Cumberland suffers another torn Achilles.

Eagles rookie linebacker Joe Walker tore his ACL during the preseason game on Thursday.

Redskins running back Matt Jones suffered a slight separation in his  shoulder during Friday’s night game.

Other News Around the NFL

After the Pro Hall of Fame game was cancelled a class action lawsuit against the NFL was in the works. On Aug 18th, the NFL came out, besides the refund of the tickets to the game they will cover one night of hotel costs.

Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, linebacker Julius Peppers, Steelers linebacker James Harrison, and free-agent defensive lineman Mike Neal all must interview with the NFL because they were among those linked to PEDs in a report by Al-Jazeera last year. If they don’t go to have interviews by August 26th they will be suspended. This week Matthews, Peppers and Harrison have all decided to sit down and talk to the NFL.

Signings, Cuts and Suspensions

New York Giants Kicker Josh Brown suspended one game, because of a domestic violence issue that happened in 2015.

Bills DT Marcell Dareus suspended four games for violating substance abuse policy. Will return Oct. 3rd. He has also announced that he will be entering a rehab facility.

49ers sign QB Christian Ponder to one-year-deal after Thad Lewis tore his ACL Sunday and is out for the year. Colin Kaepernick currently has a dead arm and hasn’t thrown in six days.

Saints released corner back Keenan Lewis on Thursday, right before the preseason game.

Broncos sign veteran defensive tackle Henry Melton.

Things that make you go hmm?

On Aug 19th, Le’Veon Bell 4 game suspension was reduced to 3 games. Then he posted and deleted a video stating he was sorry and he hasn’t smoked weed since December 2014 after an arrest.

Bills have released running back Karlos Williams, who is currently suspended for the first 4 games for substance abuse violation. The suspension isn’t the reason he was cut. The reason the team gave, is because he is about 30 pounds’ overweight. Williams claims he is having pregnancy cravings because his girlfriend is pregnant.

Eagles kicker Caleb Sturgis was out for Thursday night’s Eagles-Steelers game after suffering a concussion when a punt hit him in the head during pregame warmups. This is why the NFL created helmets.

Congratulations

This week some of the next year’s Hall of Fame finalists were named. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, former commissioner Paul Tagliabue and former Seahawks safety Kenny Easley.
