Will Cyborg Make Weight?

By LaDonna Williams

This Saturday, UFC 95 will take place in Brazil. It will be on FS1 at 6pm central time. UFC fans will see Cris Cyborg fight Lina Lansberg in the main event. Cyborg needs to make weight (140 lbs.) by Friday’s weigh in. She needs to cut 20 lbs. to be exact. Her nutritional consultant George Lockhart has decided for her to use birth control to cut the weight. This is one of the first times that the UFC has heard about the method being used. The public was put aware of this by Cyborg posting her training video on YouTube. The UFC is monitoring the situation very closely.

Back to the fight, Cyborg vs Lansberg maybe a good fight. Lansberg will be making her UFC debut on Saturday. She is a Muay Thai style fighter and a great striker. She isn’t the greatest wrestler so her take down game isn’t the best. She maybe one of the best strikers that Cyborg has faced in a while. With that being said I don’t know how she will beat Cyborg on Saturday. This fight may end up in an early KO by Cyborg. We all know Cyborg is a beast in striking, take downs, wrestling and kicks.

Other fights on the main card are Renan Barao vs. Philippe Nover, Roy Nelson vs. Antonio Silva, Francisco Trinaldo vs. Paul Felder, Thiago Santos vs. Eric Spicely, and Godofredo Pepey vs. Mike de la Torre.

Who Needs a Running Back?

By LaDonna Williams14361441_10154526886119805_8005955062667035998_o

The excited was great this past weekend and Thursday night NFL games. There were some crazy endings, blowouts and a Seattle team that can’t seem to beat the rams. During Sunday’s games it felt like a good number of running backs went down with injury. Let’s talk about the NFL injury report.

Vikings Adrian Peterson tore his meniscus. If he wants a partial repair he will be out 4 weeks. If he decides a full repair he will be out 4 months.

Chargers RB Danny Woodhead tore his ACL out for the season

Panthers Jonathan Stewart with a hamstring injury expected to miss a week or two.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah left the game with a sprained foot. He did get xrays and they came back negative.

Browns QB Josh McCown has a shoulder injury, how much time he will miss unknown. They did name Cody Kessler as a starter

Broncos LB DeMarcus Ware out 4-5 weeks after breaking his forearm.

Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. There have been different reports how long he will be out. So I will guess 2-6 weeks. Rookie Jacoby Brissett will be the starter for the next 2 weeks, until Brady comes back. Julian Edleman is number 2 QB.

Dolphins RB Arian Foster left Sunday’s game with a groin injury. Will miss week 3.

Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls left Sunday’s game with a leg injury.

Redskins T Kedric Golston placed on IR with a hamstring injury.

Is There Still a Revis Island?

By LaDonna Williams

Once upon a time a young man named Darrelle Revis entered the league in 2007. He came on to the NFL scene and was a beast. His first year he let teams know do not throw to the player in his area because he will intercept the ball or defend it so the player won’t get the ball. Over the years his numbers went up tackles, INTs, assists tackles and touchdowns.

Now let’s move fast forward to 2016. Last week, the first game of the year, the Jets played the Bengals. It was a great match up fans were waiting for AJ Green vs Revis Island. Unfortunately, the Bengals won that game in a very low scoring game, but that isn’t the surprising part. The surprise was Green had 180 yards and a touchdown. Yes, you read that number right. How? This was up against one of the best cornerbacks in the game. Revis response he is out of shape. Is the new way of saying I sucked and Green was better than me that game? Or is it saying I’m getting old and these young players are faster than me? NFL and especially Jets fans want to know how that happened.

On Thursday night and the Bills just lost to the Jets. One of the matchups people were looking for was Bills Sammy Watkins vs Revis Island. Yes, Watkins isn’t a 100% healthy, but last year he had one of his best games last season against Revis. During the game Watkins wasn’t even Revis problem. It was Marquise Goodwin. Goodwin somehow managed to get out of the island and score an 84-yard touchdown. So what will be his excuse this week?

Let’s face it NFL fans Revis Island is no more. His island is now becoming more like Florida, where people go, have a good time and leave after they are through. He isn’t the Revis that we are all used to seeing. Now he is just becoming another mediocre CB that no one is afraid of playing.

Breaking the Mold

By LaDonna Williams

As a woman that loves sports, especially football I feel like I am a rare gem. I am not saying I am the only woman that watches sports, because I know plenty of women that watch every sport out there.  I also know some men that don’t watch sports at all.

This blog may piss off some ladies and men that don’t watch sports, but you all need to listen. There is nothing worse than a nagging spouse during a sports game. You had the whole morning, or afternoon depending on when the game comes on to address your issues. Don’t come at us during the game. The game we are watching we probably already had it mapped out in our head what we are wearing, eating and where we are watching the game before the game actually came on.

For me, watching a game is a way for me to be loud, yelling at the television, or jumping up and down without getting judgement from others. I am a trash talking girl when I watch a sports game on tv or live. If you don’t want your spouse to be loud during a game. Then don’t get mad when they leave and go somewhere to watch it. Don’t text ask what we are doing when you know dang well the game is on. If it’s not a life threatening situation, don’t call or text just to nag.

Break the mold spouses, allow your other half to watch the game in peace. Watch the game with us and try to learn what the heck is actually going on. Just ask questions during commercials or replays so we won’t miss nothing.

Allow us to enjoy our games, especially football season. We only have it from August through February.
